Making an appointment
In order to reduce waiting times appointments for a GP are now only bookable up to fourteen days ahead. We have pre-book appointments as well as on the day am appointments and pm appointments bookable appointments for problems that cannot wait to be seen routinely.
There are 2 ways to see the doctor:
- Routine pre-booked appointment (with the doctor of your choice) can be made via reception, bookable up to 14 days ahead. This facility is for non-urgent and follow up appointments.
- Same day appointment can be made by ringing reception as soon as possible after 8am that day we also have afternoon book on the day appointments released from 12:30pm daily. We would ask patients not to come down to the surgery to book an appointment but to contact us by phone and we will endeavour to offer you an appointment for that morning or afternoon with whichever doctor is available that day.
Where the GPs are fully booked for the day but you feel you need to urgently discuss a medical matter then please inform the receptionist who can add you to the triage list. The triage list if reviewed throughout the day by the duty doctor who will call you back to discuss your problem.
Telephone appointments
If you have a telephone appointment booked, please be aware that your call will take place before the end of the morning or afternoon surgery. Our doctors will see all their face to face patients first, and then begin making telephone calls. Please note that the time slot given is for booking purposes only, it allows the doctor to know who is on the list to call. The actual time of your call may vary depending on the flow of the clinic.
Practice nurse appointments
You may make an appointment with the practice nurse up to 8 weeks in advance. When flu sessions are on or a nurse is on leave, these times may vary.
7 day access
We have been working hard to increase the numbers of appointments available for you. This has involved developing a partnership with other local practices, which we are pleased to tell you has now resulted in the formulation of the group named above. Chorley Central Primary Care Network (PCN) consists of the following practices Regent House Surgery, The Chorley Surgery, Library House Surgery, Granville House Medical Centre, Euxton Medical Centre and Coppull Medical Practice. The new service available will provide access to GP, nurse and health care assistant appointments in the evening and at weekends.
The service is available to all patients within this group on a proportionate basis however it is important to be aware that the appointment may not necessarily be at this practice.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
To cancel your appointment:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- use the GP online system: Patient Access
- phone us on 01257 442 442 during opening times
If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
Home visits
House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability. Please contact the reception team as early as possible to request a home visit. Your details will be added to the same day triage list for the GP to review. The GP will call you to discuss your problem initially and if they feel a house call is necessary then this will be arranged.
It may be that your issue can be dealt with over the phone or that it is deemed that a nurse visit would be more appropriate or attendance at A&E is necessary. Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the practice.
